BaZi calculator

Find your Core

Your Core is the element of the day you were born, the part of your chart BaZi reads as most you. There are ten. Three short questions, no sign-up.

In BaZi books, your Core is called the day master (日主).

How it works

  1. Your birth date: the day gives your Core.
  2. Your birth time, if you know it: near midnight it can change which day counts, and it helps place your Shaping force.
  3. Your birthplace: it sets the local solar time of your birth.

What you get

Your Core, one of ten: the five elements, each in a Yang and a Yin form. And your Shaping force, the strongest of ten forces in your chart (the Ten Gods, in BaZi books). Together they make your type, one of 100, like Yang Water · Grit.

Questions people ask

What does a day master calculator do?

It works out the heavenly stem of the day you were born, which BaZi books call your day master and Fusola calls your Core. This one also names your Shaping force, the strongest of the Ten Gods in your chart.

Do I need my birth time to find my day master?

Not for most people: the day decides your Core. The time matters if you were born close to midnight, and it helps place your Shaping force. If you don’t know it, choose “I don’t know”.

Why does it ask where I was born?

BaZi runs on local solar time. Your birthplace sets the time zone and longitude, so a birth near midnight lands on the right day.

Is my birthday saved?

No. The calculator works in your browser and sends nothing. Your details are saved only if you choose to save your free reading.

Is my Core the same as my zodiac animal’s element?

No. The zodiac animal and its element come from your birth year and are shared by everyone born that year. Your Core comes from your birth day, so it is far more personal.
